Brief Biography
I specialised at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, where I was registrar, senior registrar, fellow, and lecturer. I have worked at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital since 1990, and introduced macular hole surgery, sub-macular surgery, no-stitch cataract surgery, the use of sutured intraocular lens implants, and coloboma implants for iris defects, to the hospital. I attempted to introduce intravitreal Avastin in 2005. I have been an examiner for the final FRCOphth, and have worked on the college guidelines committees for laser refractive surgery, and for diabetic retinopathy. I have been a regular speaker at national and international conferences.
